We often come across terms like dohar, razai, and blankets but we only have a vivid idea about each of them. In fact, at times we use these terms interchangeably. So, let’s understand each of them.
Typically, a dohar consists of three layers of cloth sewn together. The layering ensures adequate warmth without making you feel too stuffy. Regular or mal-mal cotton is the preferred fabric for crafting dohar as cotton is breathable and versatile enough to be used in any weather. They are soft and lightweight. Also, they are easy to wash, dry, fold, and store as they are super-light!
Unlike dohar, razai is a quilt typically with fillings of fibre or cotton between the layers. Razai has quilting on it which is absent in dohars. Razai can be filled with polyfill or carded cotton to keep you warm and cozy even in chilly winters. Jaipuri razai are very popular worldwide due to their comfort and aesthetic designs.
On the other hand, ‘blanket’ is a thick and large sheet of woven covering used for providing warmth. A blanket is a single layer of cloth in contrast to a razai which may have multiple layers.
Dohars are used in warmer months, however razai and blankets are for cozy winters. Wrap yourself in Vaaree’s premium quality printed, floral striped, or abstract-designed dohars, razai, and blankets which are an effortless blend of style and functionality!
