Are you wondering what people mean when they say “It’s a 200TC bed sheet”? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
First things first: TC is short for ‘threadcount’. Threadcount is a word that’s used with reference to bedsheets. It determines the fineness of a bedsheet. A bed sheet with higher TC is better than a bedsheet with a lower TC (that’s pretty established by now).
In technical terms, threadcount it’s the number of horizontal and vertical threads per square inch of bedsheet cloth. So, a 200 thread count bed sheet will have 100 threads lengthwise and 100 threads widthwise.

Sometimes, manufacturers trick users by using poor quality fabric & stating higher thread count. A poor quality thread is thin and can be woven multiple times. But, this doesn’t make a bedsheet any finer or softer. So, our suggestion to you while buying a good quality bed sheet is to look at the fabric as well as the thread count.
Generally, good bed sheets have a thread count range of 144 to 800. A bed sheet with a low thread count isn’t necessarily of poor quality. Factors like fabric used, the quality of the fabric etc. determine the quality of the bed sheet.
